What Small Multifamily Rental Property Owners Tell Us About Implementation of Tenant Protection Laws

A new analysis, authored by Research Associate Shazia Manji, explores landlord awareness of tenant protection laws and draws on survey findings collected during our previous study, published in January, on the ownership and management of small multifamily properties.

The survey asked owners of small multifamily properties across the country about six different kinds of tenant protection laws, as well as whether they believed these laws applied to the property surveyed. The analysis finds that smaller-scale property owners were less likely to know whether tenant protection policies applied to their property than larger-scale property owners.

The analysis underscores the role of education, outreach, and enforcement in ensuring that tenant protections are being upheld. Read the full analysis on our website here.
