How Affordable Housing Developers Can Leverage CalAIM to Help People Experiencing Homelessness

The California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) has partnered with the Terner Center on work to improve health outcomes for people experiencing homelessness by enhancing the integration of health care and housing.

Building on recent research, the Terner Center is facilitating a community of practice for permanent supportive housing developers on how to leverage opportunities through CalAIM, a multiyear plan to transform the Medi-Cal program that provides health insurance for over 13 million low-income Californians.

In a new interview, Faculty Research Advisor Carolina Reid talks with CHCF’s Michelle Schneidermann about this work and the significant potential benefits of bringing the two systems together to provide person-centered care.
