Climate Migration: Getting Ahead of the Next Housing Crisis
Domestic climate migration is increasingly becoming a high profile issue that spans partisan divides and policy domains. Thousands have been displaced by climate disasters, such as wildfires, and families are reconsidering areas at high risk for flooding and sea-level rise. What will these patterns mean, particularly for lower-income or at-risk households? Should we be planning for (even) more housing in relatively low-risk cities to accommodate people displaced from more hazardous places in the state? How else can we align housing planning with the latest climate science, and support people “on the move” or struggling to stay safe in their current communities?
Join the Terner Center & Labs on Thursday, November 14 for a reception and panel discussion focused on innovative solutions to domestic climate migration and the role each of us has to play in our shared future.
