Sheela Jivan is the Terner Center’s Associate Director. She leads operations, finance, and strategic planning for the Terner Center. She is a real estate professional with almost 3 decades of experience in the industry, with roles at market rate and affordable developers as well as the tech industry.
She comes most recently from Google where she led the Downtown West project, a transit rich master planned development located adjacent to Diridon Station and walking distance from downtown San José. This project includes over 6 million square feet of office space, 500,000 square feet of retail space, 4,000 units of housing including 1,000 units of affordable housing, 15 acres of open space and parks, robust placemaking opportunities as well as new infrastructure. Additionally, a $150 million community stabilization package was included as part of the Development Agreement.
Prior to this she worked for Five Point, a large California Master Plan developer, and led the Concord Naval Weapons Station project, a master planned community, on behalf of Lennar. Prior to Five Point, Ms. Jivan held the position of Regional Director of Portfolio Syndication for Mercy Housing where she launched the company’s recapitalization effort of their portfolio across California. Prior to that, she was a Senior Director of Real Estate Development where she led the development of over a dozen affordable housing communities, participated as part of the executive management team, represented Mercy Housing in policy and professional settings and played a strong mentoring role for junior developers.
Ms. Jivan holds a BA Anthropology degree with a minor in South Asian Studies from UC Berkeley and a Masters from CED in City and Regional Planning and Masters in Public Health from UC Berkeley.
