Darrell Owens is a Data Analyst at Terner Labs. He works on the Data Solutions Lab team to build data tools for policymakers and other partners to make informed housing policy decisions. Dedicated to de-mystifying housing costs, displacement, and demographic change from an empirical and objective standpoint, he specializes in spatial analysis and geographic software analysis and development.
Darrell has held data analysis roles at California YIMBY, where he created mapping software for stakeholders and state legislators to illustrate the impacts of proposed legislation and existing laws and at Resources for Community Development, where he wrote scripts to analyze subsidized housing waitlists. He has also worked as an analytical contractor and GIS programmer for news outlets to create interactive mapping tools.
As a 4th generation resident of Berkeley and Oakland, most of his work has been historically focused on the pressing challenges in the East Bay area. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
