Past Webinar: California Housing Laws: The Year Ahead
Published On October 24, 2024
Earlier this fall, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed over 60 housing-related bills into law, most of which will become effective January 1, 2025. These new laws will shape housing outcomes in many ways, including accelerating housing production, strengthening housing law enforcement, addressing homelessness, and building more Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
On Monday, November 4 at 11 am, the Terner Center hosted a webinar discussing the Governor’s final decisions on major housing legislation, and the non-legislative changes that will impact the housing landscape. The webinar included a presentation of our upcoming commentary as well as an audience Q/A on how these housing policies may impact our housing shortage and what advocates can look forward to in the next legislative session.
Speakers included:
- Muhammad Alameldin, Terner Center for Housing Innovation (moderator + presenter)
- Graciela Castillo-Krings, Sacramento Advocates
- Nolan Gray, California YIMBY
- Dante Golden, San Diego Housing Federation
