Whatever It Takes: Tackling the Housing Affordability Crisis

Whatever it Takes: Tackling the Housing Affordability Crisis

Thursday, March 12, 4:30pm Reception, 5:30pm Program | UC Berkeley Faculty Club

People across the country are experiencing an affordability crisis. About half of U.S. renters are cost-burdened, spending a third of their income on housing; more than a quarter spend half of their income or more. High housing costs constrain labor mobility, deepen racial and economic inequities, and erode household financial stability.

At this event, leading practitioners and scholars will share innovations and evidence-backed approaches to make housing affordable.

The event also marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of the Center’s namesake Don Terner, who took a “whatever it takes” approach to the housing crisis. Throughout the conversation, we’ll draw on lessons learned from Don’s work driving California housing policy reform, launching a Bay Area affordable housing nonprofit, and educating future housing leaders at UC Berkeley.

If you require an accommodation for effective communication (ASL interpreting/alternative media formats, etc.) or information about campus mobility access features in order to fully participate in this event, please contact Jessie Modlin at jmodlin@berkeley.edu by February 26.

This event is at capacity. Join the waitlist.
