This project explores how supply—how much, what kind, and where housing is being built in the nation’s 100 largest metro areas—influences housing accessibility and affordability. The first paper looks at how a region’s housing supply affects homeownership rates, and how tight supply can limit opportunities for households to find entry level homes. The second paper focuses on access to affordable rental housing, and the role that supply plays in increasing access to high-opportunity neighborhoods.
