The Terner Center developS strategies for policy and practice to solve current issues affecting housing and communities, including:

  • Integrating residential production and environmental goals while improving affordability and equity

  • Developing strategies that can bend the cost curve and make homes and communities more affordable, resilient, and efficient through innovative design and construction techniques

  • Identifying new models to support the underlying goals of homeownership given current challenges including low wage growth and changing regulatory systems

  • Analyzing new models for rental assistance and financing to overcome budget constraints at the local, state and national level

  • Focusing on the challenges and opportunities in California including climate change, the need for resiliency, and demographic shifts

  • Advancing practice-based solutions that have the potential to better the built environment, not only in the U.S. but globally
